Summary: 1 Photo a Day 07/13

Hello lovelies,

this month was the first time I've participated at the A Photo a Day Challenge from Fat Mum Slim. At least, I've hung on for 17 days. Without interruption. Don't know what happened on day 18. Never mind. Here are my 17 photos for the challenge. :)

Tomorrow starts a new month and with it a new challenge. I'll take part again and hope, I'll hang on for longer than a half month. :)

Impressions of my hometown

Hello lovelies,

if you follow me on instagram, you've noticed a small flood of pictures, tagged with #bumblebee_citytrip. So, here is the solution: A post with a few impressions of my hometown.

Kassel (German pronunciation: [ˈkasəl]; spelled Cassel until 1928) is a town located on the Fulda River in northern Hesse, Germany. It is the administrative seat of the Kassel Regierungsbezirk and the Kreis of the same name and has approximately 195,000 inhabitants.[2] It is known for the documenta exhibition of contemporary art. In 1964, the town hosted the fourth Hessentag state festival, and is designated for the 53rd in 2013.
Quelle: Wikipedia

I must admit that Kassel isn't a beauty. A huge part of the city was bury below bombs during the WWII. So, we don't have a beautiful historic centre, but we have beautiful landscapes around and inside the city.

I'm living on the outskirts and therefore I visit the city not often. Most only once a month for my grocery haul. Today I wasn't only on a shopping trip. I was on a photo safari as well and visit some beautiful places in a not so beautiful downtown.

However … I love this city. I live here for 34 years (two years I lived in Speyer, Rhineland-Palatinate). It's my hometown and it really has it's beauty … more inside than outside. :)

OotD: My new boyfriend

Hello lovelies,

it was back at the 90th. I wasn't full age and I think, most of you now this your from parents: "As long as you have your feet under my table …". My parents had a huge averseness to distressed (boyfriend) jeans. That's why I smuggled them into school and changed clothes in the restroom. I've sworn that, when I'm full age and they become a fashion trend again, I'll wear them. No sooner said than done. ;)

Jeans & Shirt: ASOS Curve | Shoes: Bonprix

I don't know how I feel with the 90th back in fashion. Young again or *peep* old. Recently, I stumbled over Blue Bloods during the channel-hop. Donnie Wahlberg looks so old. And he was one of the heroes of my young days. (Ok, granted I was in love with Jordan. *blush*).

What was your favourite trend in your youth?

Review: p2 pure color lipstick

Hello beauties,

let me tell you a shocking secret: I'm not that typical lipstick girl. I think, the main reason is, that I'm not sure, which colour suits me. For this very reason, I've got only a handful of lipsticks. I bought my last one in june from p2, the house brand of the german grocery store DM.

p2 pure color lipsticks – product page

There are 15 colours available and the lipstick costs 1,95 €. I choose the 043 Pont Neuf, an soft pink with a nudish touch. The lipsticks contains 4,5 g and are free from perfume, paraben and PEG. Storage life: 24 month.

Promises of the producer:
  • intensive colours
  • ultra-light formula
  • long lasting colour brilliance
  • don't run into the lip wrinkles
  • hyaluronic acid prevent from drying out

The lipstick comes in a silver, reflective package. The brand and name of the lipstick can be found on the cap, the colour on the bottom. The package leaves a good impression. Nothing seems to be loose or chattering.

My appliance
I apply the first coat and remove the surplus product by pressing my lips on a tissue. After that, I powder my lips before I apply a second coat, where I remove the surplus product as well.

My experience
The lipstick is creamy and a bit gluey if you don't remove the surplus product. It lasts for about 4–5 hours, but the opacity is fading. It vanish from the inside to the outside and leaves an unlovely edge. It's not a huge problem with this colour. I'll see how it looks with a darker one. Sadly, my lips feel a bit dry in the evening and needs a balm.

  • definitely the price
  • the colour
  • easy to apply
  • opacity

  • lips are feeling dried out at the end of the day
  • it's not as long-lasting as promised

My result
For 1,95 €, you can go wrong with this lipstick and I can try different colours without wasting much money. Maybe I'll find the right for me. By this price, it's not so bitter that it's not as long-lasting as promised and that you must reapply the lipstick after a few hours. I like it and I'll definitely buy some other colours. *thumbsup*

You know how I look like. What do you think, which colour would suit me? What your favourite lipstick? High price or low price?

Fave album of the month:
Ellipse by Imogen Heap

Hello lovelies,

the album of this month is 4 years old, but I don't know it until last weekend. That's why I love spotify. I discovered a lot of new music since I'm registered.

What do you think? Yea or nay? What's your favorite artist or album at the moment? Do you have a favourite genre or are you like me? As long as my ears not bleeding, I hear everything. :)

NotD: red&black grunge

Hey beauties,

today I'll do just a quick late night post and show you, what I've done with my nails on saturday. My gel nails needed a refill and I was bored by one colour nails. It shouldn't be something complicate, because I already spend a lot time on my gel manicure without awesome nail art. I remembered a blog post I've seen a few weeks ago at ! Miss von Xtravaganz !. It was a tutorial for an easy grunge nail design, which appeared already in my friday faves.

Easy, quick, beautiful … I gave it a try. If you would ask me, I would say: I love it. I used the »night red« colour gel from Jolifin (which is my absolute fave colour at the moment) as base and added the »black is black« polish from essence with a small piece of an old facecloth. That gives a rough pattern.

(I know, I know … polish underneath gel is bad, but I haven't a black colour gel yet. I'm a bad girl. ;) …)

I hope, you like it. Feel free to link me your favourite design you've made.

OotD: Little black dress

Hello lovelies,

every woman should have a little black dress in her wardrobe. Two of us bought a new one at the awesome ASOS sale. After my post about my ASOS haul, Kaye from Polished Curves told me that she bought the same dress. It suggested itself, that we decided to post the OotD together.

I sneaked around this dress for a while … not sure, if I should buy it and in which colour. Didn't like the green on the photos and I was not sure, if red would be the right colour for me. Finally I ordered the red and the black one. The red one was sent back, because red as the main colour is nothing that suits me. The black one moved instantly into my wardrobe.

The fabric is very soft and the lace is beautiful. The dress has a brown belt, but I changed it to my white one. I'm not sure if thin belts and I will become friends in future.

Hubs love this dress. His words: "This looks like a sexy negligee, not like a dress." Men! But I'm happy, that he bought it me. So … should he think what he want. :)

The gorgeous Natalie from XL as life! bought the dress in red. She's looking really amazing! And don't forget to look at the lovely Kaye how she wear the dress.

What's your favourite lace dress, if you have one?

How to be a fat bitch #3

Hello lovelies,

welcome to the third part of the great eCourse "How to Be a Fat Bitch" from The Nearsighted Owl. The topic of this part is: Being Fashionable and Fat.

How to be a Fat Bitch ecourse

Challenge yourself to wear something that you might have felt wary about in the past. Break up your routine with something different and you might open yourself up to some radical new styles! Blog it, Instagram it, Tweet it (#fatbitchecourse, #nearsightedowl), etc. and share it in the comments below.

At the end of 2012 I stumbled over the awesome Gabi from GabiFresh. This was my first meeting with the awesome fatosphere at the internet. Since then, I've met awesome ladies all around the world, who inspired me and change my view on my body. And also the content of my wardrobe. But I don't want to jump ahead. I have the chance to write more about those awesome women in the next part of the challenge.

Back to topic … the assignment is to wear something I wouldn't wear normally. Normally is relative … Last year, it was normal to hide in wide jeans and t-shirts. But my wardrobe gain more and more dresses and skirts. Yikes! How did this happened? Maybe I'm a bit ahead of this eCourse. ;)

Anyway, I wear clothes I haven't imagine one year ago that I would wear them. And I feel great in them. I was so afraid how I would look in a dress, that I missed the comfort of them. No trouser waistband, who cut in the flesh while sitting. I've denied to me so many years. What a pity!

OMG … I'm wearing a white short!

And a pink circle skirt!

This awesome dress from ASOS Curve became one of my fave clothes. ♥

Yikes! A flower skirt!

A (red!) belt on my waist that brings my massive curves out! *shock*

These photos are a few examples from my OotD posts.

My mum told me, I shouldn't wear dresses and skirts on the streets, because I look fat in them. I answered, that I don't look fat, I AM FAT! And even if I look 10 pounds more than in jeans … when I feel comfortable, I should wear it. End!

And this brings me to the …

Do you have some fatshion tips to share? Please do!

Only one: Wear what you want, what you like and in what you feel comfortable, great, awesome, fantastic … To hell with the "well-meant" tips from others who only "want your best". Say them to their face that, if they really worried about you, they wouldn't drag you down again and again by repeating how fat you are.

Be honest: Is there any piece of clothes that you would wear but don't brave enough?

Wish you an awesome new week and cross my fingers that great things will happen to you. :)

I ♡ MyStyleHit!

Hello lovelies,

in my last OotD I talk already a bit about MyStyleHit. Today, I'll tell you a bit more about this wonderful german fashion community and show you, what else was in my package.

Do you see the block underneath the gfc? This is my MyStyleHit banner. And you see, that ASOS is a partner of MSH, which was one reason, I became a member of the community. MSH offers a platform for fashionistas and beauties, don't matter if you are a blogger or "just" fashion/beauty addicted. You can post your own fashion photos or get some inspiration from the other members. Every size, every style … MSH is an all-rounder and growing every day.

If you have a blog, you can become a vip-blogger. In that program, you generate blogger points through different ways. Visitors on your blog count as well as your activities in the community. Posting outfits and styles, like outfits and/or write comments … all this generate points. Clicks on that banner on the right counts also. (just a little broad hint ;) …) When you reach a defined number of points, you become a bronze, silver or gold blogger. Every state needs more points and more visitors on your blog. The bronze state is the easiest, especially for small blogs like mine.
And now the highlight: When you reach a state for the first time, you'll get a surprise package. Individually composed by the team of MSH. With a handwritten letter.

When my package arrived, I was totally upset. I saw a few posts about other "bronze gifts" on blogs and was so curious what they chosen for me. What I found was outside of my imagination.

This was my first view after I opened the package. A letter, fabric, flower print and (not on the picture) an ASOS Curve label. *gasp* I tried to be patient and read the letter first. After reading, I was … gobsmacked. They told me, that they saw the ASOS skirt on my Pinterest board +size Wishlist. That wonderful team fulfilled me a fashion wish from my Pinterest board. I mean … it can't get more personally than that. That was awesome.

Next to the skirt, they gifted me some cupcake cases (because they saw on my blog that I love baking), a keyboard brush (which seems to be in every package), a sticker and two face masks, one was a chocolate mask. What a waste of chocolate. ;)

So … long story short: I will call out my love for MSH. Not only because of the package. It is a lovely community and until now I don't see hate, envy, cat fights or something like that. Just great women (and some men) who share the love of two things: fashion and beauty.

Are you member of a similar community? If yes, share your thoughts (and the link) with me. I love to discover new fashion communities to get some inspiration and meet new blogger.

Love, Mel … xoxo

OotD: I like the flowers …

Hello curvies,

do you love to get packages? I do … and some packages are better than other. About a week ago, I received my gift from My Style Hit, which is a german fashion and beauty community with an program just for bloggers. In this program you can reach different states, from bronze to gold. Last month, I reached the bronze state for the first time and this involved a special gift. But, long story short, more about MSH tomorrow. Today I'll show you that awesome skirt from ASOS Curve which was the highlight in that package.

I fall in love with that skirt on the first sight. I love the print, the colours and the cut. It's perfect. ♥

Thanks to ASOS Curve for creating that awesome skirt. And thanks to MSH for including it in the surprise gift. The surprise was successful.

The 10 Day You Challenge #10

Hello lovelies,

Oops! I've nearly forget the last part of the challenge. It calls 1 Photo and I need a long time to decided, which photo I could blog for this challenge. Alea iacta set! The die has been cast!

Missed the first 9 parts of the challenge?
No problem, you can find then »here«.

Let's come to the photo, that is important enough to be posted. One of me were boring, because there are a lot of them on this blog already. Then I thought about the most important day of my life till now: My second wedding. After one relationship and one marriage, who both ends … not nicely, I found my second half at last. We are a "young" couple … just 6,5 years in relationship and got married after 2 years, right after my divorce was legal. He's the love of my life and I hope, that we'll spend the rest of our time on earth together. (FunFact: He has so much quirks in common with my dad, it's sometimes a bit scary.)

This photo is from the ceremony at the marriage registration office. We hadn't a huge party. Just our families (it's my mum in the background) and closest friends were with us. And yes … I wasn't a typical bride with a white gown. And you already saw the cardi in one outfit post. ;)

This was the 10 Day You Challenge and I hope you've enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Recipe: Double Chocolate Muffins

Hello sweeties,

at the beginning of july I made a "baking marathon" for hubs workmates. In that company it is tradition that you bring at least 3 cakes at your birthday. And he had spare no pains and placed his wife in front of the oven. Whew! That was a hard day, but it was harder to have a cheesecake (new york style, not the german one) in the fridge and not allowed to eat a piece. Torture!

Beside the cheesecake I made a lot of double chocolate muffins. They are so … chocolatey. Yummy! (And I took a few beside for the baker … me!). Today I wanna share the recipe with you, because they are the best chocolate muffins I ever tried. Everyone who eat one was blown away. Only because I think of the soft chocolatey texture my mouth is watering.
Okay, okay … I stop raving and give you the recipe.

  • Preheat the oven at 190 °C (375 °F) upper and lower heat and prepare the muffin pan
  • Melt the 125 g dark chocolate (only the one with the 70%, not the other one at the end of the recipe) with the butter. Place it aside and let it cool down a bit.
  • Stir the eggs with the sugar until it's creamy. Mix in the sour cream and the milk.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour with cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Take your egg mix and add the melted chocolate and the flour mix.
  • Chop the whole milk and the dark chocolate into chunks (not too small) and fold them into the dough.
  • Fill it into the muffin pan and bake it for ca. 20–25 minutes.

The preparation is a bit complex, but the muffins are worth it. You'll forget the work when you eat the first one, when is still warm.

What's your favourite muffins?
Do you think, your recipe for chocolate muffins is better? Share it with me and I'll prove it. ;-)

My ASOS Curve sale haul

Hello fashionistas,

most of you know, that we have on of the most beautiful times of the year. Ahem … no, I don't mean summer. I mean the ASOS sale. Awesome clothes for awesome prices. How much of you couldn't resist and ordered for more than 100 €?

I started with the following two pieces. The wonderful dress with the lovely turtle dove print you saw in the ootd post on monday and a great boyfriend jeans.

After the first order was delivered I must do a fashion show for Mr. BumbleBee. And he liked how I look in the dress so much, that we had a second look at the sale. And I've got those wonderful 2 dresses.

And last but not least I ordered this simply white belt, who matches with all three dresses.

I'm curious about your ASOS sale haul. Leave me a comment with your favourite pieces from the sale.

Spread the Love #1
»Fee ist mein Name« (de/en)

Hello sweethearts,

my name is Mel and I'm blog addicted. (insert blushed face here) I follow a lot of blogs … beauty blogs, lifestyle blogs, food blogs, diy blogs, etc … everything I like. At the moment the counter on bloglovin' counts 158! No wonder, that my household is so messy. I don't have time for cleaning. (insert double-blushed face here please) Also I love looking for new great blogs to follow and I'm happy about every tip I get. That's why I decided to create this monthly post in which I pick one of my faves blogs and spread some love.

Note: I read blogs in more than one language. You'll find the language(s) of the presented blog in the title above

This week I will introduce you the lovely blog Fee ist mein Name from Fee (yes, that's really her name).

It's a loving managed blog with beautiful photos, great recipes (cooking, baking and also for drinks) and lovely diy tutorials. I love her weekly retrospect and the recipe for woodruff syrup.

Go ahead, have a look and let her enchant you. It goes very quick and don't hurt, I promise.

Spread some love to and share your fave blog in the comments.

OotD: Turtle Doves

Hello curvies,

it's about time for a new outfit post. This month is the ASOS month. When I saw the sale I simply had to go for it. Including a gift from msh (detailed post follow next week) I have 5 new pieces in my wardrobe. 3 dresses, 1 jeans and 1 skirt. I'm happy that I had the chance to buy a bit from the sale this month, because I have a spending ban in august. (insert sad face here)

First I'll show you what I wore at hubbys birthday party, a dress with a beautiful turtel dove print with a white, thin belt. I have a little problems with thin belts. Let's see if you figure out what it is. ;)

The dress is awesome. In retrospect this is the first dress I felt comfortable from the first second. Two things are a bit bothering. The sleeves are a bit to long and after push them up for the first time, they are a bit worn out. And the neckline slips really easy. But this don't derogate the fact that I'm in love with this dress. Actually my favourite one. Let's see, what time will bring. :)

Dress and Belt: ASOS | Leggins: Bonprix | Shoes: Evans
Earrings: from my gran | Necklace: Zalando

What's your favourite dress at the moment?

Love, Mel … xoxo

And my love goes to … #5

Hello lovelies,

weeeeeeeeeeeekend. Hope those of you who are still at work can pack in soon. I saw a few amazing things while browsing this week and like every week I'll share some of them with you. Enjoy it!

My beauty faves in june

Hello beauties,

a new month has begun and with him the second half of the year. It's been like I celebrate New Year's Eve just yesterday. Time flies by.

I shown you my beauty haul from june already and today I'll show you the products that sneaked right into my heart.

p2 Sand Style Polish 020 Lovesome
I need not much nail polish because of my gel nails, but once in a while I need something different, without making a whole new gel manicure. Or you chosen gel colour don't match the dress you want to wear on that party at the weekend. The p2 sand style polish suits me just fine. He has great covering qualities and dries very fast. And the colour …

p2 Pure Color Lipstick 043 Pont Neuf (review will follow)
I like the soft texture and the matt finish. He doesn't feel heavy nor gluey on the lips. They doesn't feel dry after a while. And he stays … and stays … and stays …

Garnier BB Cream "Miracle Skin Perfector" (review will follow)
Allowedly, it's a bit unfair compared to all the other bb creams, because this is my first one, I tried so far. It's easy to apply, doesn't leave blotches and the skin looks fresh. The cream doesn't work wonders. Huge skin problems (like the pimples I had last week *grumble*) needs a extra covering, but I didn't expect that in this price segment.

p2 Perfect Face! Oil Control Base
I have a oily skin, especially on the chin and the front head. So I was on the lookout for a good and inexpensive primer. The one from p2 is under 4 Euro and therefore unbeatable at the price. I should reapply powder after the half day but this is a huge bettering than before.

p2 lift-up lash mascara waterproof
Doesn't stick the lashes together, has a wonderful strong black and a great brush, which comes without frippery. Only the "lift up" effect could be better, because of my "men lashes".

✪ Jolifin Colour Gel "Night Red" (review will follow)

My newest achievement in the matter of colour gels. I'm over the moon because of the colour.

I begin to become a huge p2 fan. A good quality at that price. Great!

Do you have some favor beauty product at the moment? I'm curious what it is.

Love, Mel … xoxo
